FAQ

Questions

The things people ask us most often.

01  What is Kota Doria?

A handwoven cloth of cotton and silk from Kota in Rajasthan, thrown on pit looms so the threads meet in tiny open squares — the khat. It is very light, surprisingly strong, and cool to wear in heat.

02  Why do two pieces look slightly different?

Because two people made them by hand, on different days, from different dye lots. Small variation is the mark of the process, not a fault.

03  Do sarees come with a blouse piece?

Yes — every saree is 6.3 m with a running blouse piece. There is no size to choose; the choice is the colourway.

04  Is the zari real?

On pieces described as real zari, yes — silver, gold-plated, woven in rather than applied. We say so plainly where it is, and where it is not.

05  Can I order a colour you do not stock?

Often. Write to us. A custom colourway takes about three weeks on the loom.
